Former Mobile Home Store Owner Accused Of Theft

A case against a former mobile home business will go to trial after five customers said they paid for homes they never received.

One claimant, Paula Sirko of Cambria County, said she gave Tom Seaman's Sunrise Mobile Homes $30,000 with the promise that her home would be delivered in October. Sirko said the store never contacted her and she later found out that the money was supposed to go to the builder, Champion Homes. But instead, she said the store took her cash and now she can't get a refund.

"I called Champion Homes in Claysburg and they told me (Seaman) did not have funds in his account to deliver the home and I would not be getting my home," Sirko said.

Sirko and four others filed lawsuits against Seaman's company and the case will be tried. Sirko said she is just hoping for closure.

"You can sue for triple what the damages were, but if the company goes out of business like his did then there's nothing to protect you and you're out. It was an awakening experience," Sirko said.
