JOHNSTOWN, Pa. --

Jan. 17, 1991, is a day retired Maj. Gen. Mohammad Mubarak will never forget.

It was the first day of Operation Desert Storm when the Air Force veteran said he was shot down in Kuwait.

More than 20 years later, he shared his experience with a young audience Tuesday.

Mubarak, nicknamed "Mo" by his close friends, spoke to the senior class of Richland High School. He told students about what happened to him when he was captured by Iraqi forces after being shot down in 1991 and how he was interrogated by the Iraqis in Baghdad.

Though he was free to talk about what happened to him years ago, he said it still can be extremely difficult to share such details.

Mubarak will speak at the VFW in Geistown at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
