Former Substitute Teacher Faces More Charges

Ferndale Borough Police said a former substitute teacher already accused of sexual assault in Somerset County has been charged in Cambria County for similar accusations.

Thursday, Ferndale police filed nearly 50 new sex-related charges against Bruce Haskins relating to incidents that allegedly occurred over a period of 10 years.

He was scheduled to appear in Cambria County court Friday for a protection from abuse hearing.

Haskins, 42, is currently in the Somerset County Jail on charges he forced a 14-year-old girl to perform oral sex. Police said she is the same girl Haskins is accused of assaulting in Cambria County.

In 2004, Haskins was accused of groping a North Star Middle School student.

If convicted, Haskins faces more than 100 years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines.
