Four Killed In ATV Accidents

Four people were killed in separate all-terrain vehicle accidents over the holiday weekend.

The accidents happened in Westmorland, Fayette, Cambria and Huntingdon Counties.

Huntingdon State Police said Ronald Lee Clayton, 66, of York, was hunting on Saturday when the accident happened. Clayton was later found along a trail in Hopewell Township pinned beneath his ATV. An autopsy was performed at J.C. Blair Hospital in Huntingdon to determine the cause of death.

In Cambria County, a 15-year-old boy died when he was thrown from his ATV after crashing into a metal bridge barrier along Jamestown Road near Portage.

Police are still trying to determine what caused the boy, Neil Waksmunski, to run into the bridge.

Waksmunski's father said his son was wearing a helmet.

Another ATV accident in Jefferson County left a Brookville man with head injuries. State police said Howard Dawson of Brookville was riding on private property when his four-wheeler rolled several times down a steep embankment. Dawson was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The other ATV deaths involved two Westmoreland County residents, a woman from Delmont and a man from Greensburg.
