Four Meth Labs in Five Weeks in Bedford County

By IMLER, Pa

Stef Davis

Four meth labs in just five weeks. And the news is sending shockwaves through the Bedford County community.

Noris Preis, Claysburg, says,  “To be honest, I was shocked to see that was going on here."

Noris Preis spent his Tuesday night playing bingo with friends at the Imler Fire Company. But just a few feet outside of the building, remnants of a meth lab were found Friday night.

These two people, 48-year-old Edward Mack of crystal springs and 29-year-old Crystal Burket of Imler were arrested Monday in connection with the crime.

Bill Higgins, Bedford County District Attorney, says, "It’s probably the drug the concerns us the most because it has so many negative consequences for our community.”

And so the Bedford County D.A.  and the county's drug task force are cracking down. They don't want these drug dealers to dampen the spirits of an entire community, especially some as close knit as the ones in Bedford County.

Preis adds, "To hear that stuff now is sad, it really tears the place up a little bit.”

Three other meth labs were busted in addition to the one in near the Imler Fire Company. One just yards away along Mowrys Mills Road, one at the Breezewood Motel, and one at an apartment building in Bedford borough.

Higgins adds, "If they want to do this, be prepared to be met with zealous prosecution. We intend to go after these people as hard as we can.”
