Franklin Mill Demolition

One of Johnstown's steel mills is coming down. Crews are tearing down the former Bethlehem Steel Franklin Works. A scrap dealer from Somerset County says he bought the old Republic mill in bankruptcy court for one point six million dollars. The new owner plans to sell the scrap. This demolition project will take about three years. That mill was built 1901. It orginally used blast furnances to make steel.. and soon after the turn of the century... became the center of steel production.
