New information on a story Channel Six first told you about on Wednesday. The Franklin Mill in Johnstown is being torn down. A group of investors feels the property could have a big economic return. This project was the vision of two Somerset County men who formed a company called EMF corporation. They'd been removing scrap metal from the site for about a year for Republic Technologies and eventually realized it would be a good investment.. These mills represent prime real estate for brownfield development. That's something that experts are saying is the number one priority when it comes to bringing propriety back to Pennsylvania. EMF Corporation has applied for brownfield status and is in phase two of their environmental studies, laying the groundwork for development. Now this is a three to five year project. EMF will tear down half of the buildings on the property, sell the scrap, and move on from there.
