Freezing rain snarls morning commute

No sooner had people in the region finished digging out from a winter storm that blanketed the Alleghenies with snow Friday and Saturday, many people woke up on Monday to a mix of frozen precipitation.

What started out as snow in some areas quickly switched over to freezing rain and sleet that created a slushy mess for the morning commute.

Many schools delayed classes and some canceled. Cambria County dispatchers confirmed that Menoher Mountain was reduced to one lane of traffic Monday morning for some time because of a downed utility pole.
