BOLIVAR, Pa. —
Denise McGinnis said she is worried about her husband, who has been eluding police since Monday. She said David McGinnis doesn’t have medication that he needs to take every day.
David McGinnis, 44, of Westmoreland County, was initially wanted for insurance fraud, but since then police said he has been on a crime spree.
The incident started when Richland Township police said McGinnis reported his truck was stolen, but authorities later determined the truck was in storage.
Officers said they tried to serve two arrest warrants to McGinnis on Monday, but they received a tip that McGinnis might have been armed. A CERT team surrounded his home in Bolivar and used tear gas, but did not find anyone inside.
"The last time I seen him was Monday at 6:45. Right now, I'd give anything to know where he's at. I'm really worried about him," Denise McGinnis said Thursday.
Since Monday, police said McGinnis was spotted pointing a gun at a home of a person police said had e-mail evidence of the alleged fraud. McGinnis has a criminal history that makes it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Then early Tuesday, police said McGinnis allegedly set a Fairfield Township house on fire.
About 40 state troopers teamed up Wednesday with a special emergency response team to search for McGinnis. Helicopters and search dogs were also being used in the manhunt.
Denise McGinnis was also initially accused in connection with the incident but was released by police. She denies that she or her husband had anything to do with insurance fraud.
Anyone with information on David McGinnis' whereabouts is asked to immediately call police. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous and said people should not approach him.
