Funding Proposal For Johnstown Flood Memorial In Hands Of U.S. Senate

A bill that would provide up to a half million dollars in preservation funding for an historic site near the Johnstown Flood National Memorial, in Cambria County, is now in the U.S. Senate. Congressman John Murtha has introduced the bill that would put the cottages of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club under control of the National Park Service. Those cottages were the property of Pittsburgh area moguls who are blamed for neglecting the South Fork Dam, which led the to the Johnstown Flood of 1889.
