Gallon For Gallon?

Cambria County —

When we're paying so much for gas, you want to get what you pay for. Channel 6 News went to gas stations in Johnstown to find out if we would. We started at Bill's Amoco on Goucher Street, where gas is $2.57 a gallon. We filled our container and stopped pumping when the pump read a gallon. Our next stop was the Mobil station on Goucher Street. We put in what registers as a gallon from there. We got less gas than we did at Bill's Amoco. We then headed over to Sheetz to see if a gallon of gas there is really a gallon of gas. Just one gallon, that's all we needed. But would we pay for less or more than that?

According to our calculations, the Sheetz and Mobil gas stations gave us our one gallon of gas for the price. Bill's Amoco, however, gave us a little more for our money. Mechanics at Bill's Amoco won't go on camera, but say they've had their gas measured for a gallon.

You can check that by looking for the sticker on the pump that verifies when a station was checked by the state.
