CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has announced it will lay off workers at its Ebensburg plant due to lower demand for windmill blades.

Tuesday's Tribune-Democrat reports that 73 employees will be furloughed, which is about 30 percent of the workforce.

The company said it hopes to bring those workers back in about 10 weeks if the American Renewable Energy Production Tax Credit is extended.

If the tax credit is not extended, the company said it will concentrate on blades for wind farms in foreign countries.
