"Pantene's Beautiful Lengths is this amazing program where they collect hair donations from people across the country and then turn their donations into wigs for women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy," says Alyssa Hertzig, Beauty Editor, Good Housekeeping. "And when Good Housekeeping heard about this, we knew we had to be a part of it."
So Good Housekeeping found three brave readers who had long, beautiful hair and were willing to cut it for the cause. The magazine asked celebrity stylist Danilo to give the women flattering cuts as well as offer his expert styling advice that anyone can copy at home whether their hair is long or short.
Tip #1: If your hair is very fine, layer it. To add additional fullness, you want to use a mousse. Good Housekeeping recommends Pantene Pro-V Body Builder Mousse. Add it to dry hair and then as you blow dry, brush up and against the root with a paddle brush to add extra lift.
Tip #2: If your super thick hair looks like a mushroom cap, try weighing it down with a leave-in product. Good Housekeeping likes Suave Proessionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream. Apply it to your hair when it's damp and leave it in to help keep your hair in control.
Tip #3: For super straight hair, Good Housekeeping recommends adding a dollop of straightening cream, then smoothing small sections with a blow dryer and paddle brush.
If you want to find out more about the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program, visit www.beautifullengths.com and click on the area for the United States. Your hair has to be no more than five percent gray and not colored with permanent dye. And you have to be willing to part with at least eight inches.
