Good Samaritans help driver trapped in rollover crash

By Bill Wadell

PIKE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

State troopers at the Clearfield barracks said four strangers driving on a rural road helped a local driver trapped after a violent rollover crash Monday afternoon.

According to investigators, 48-year-old Larry Elensky of Curwensville was driving northbound on Route 453 a few miles away from home, when he lost control and hit an embankment around 4:30 p.m.

The police report said the Oldsmobile flipped and landed on its roof, and that Elensky was partially ejected and pinned underneath the car.

Officials indicate that four Good Samaritans stopped and managed to lift the car up enough so that Elensky could be freed before first responders arrived.

Elensky was taken by ambulance to Altoona Regional Health System, where officials said he is currently in stable condition.

Family members and friends who live nearby declined to talk with 6News on camera, but said that Elensky is a lucky man and that they’re grateful to the four people who stopped and helped.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
