Gov. Corbett briefs Pennsylvanians of how state is preparing for Sandy

HARRISBURG, Pa. —

Governor Tom Corbett addressed the state this afternoon to update Pennsylvanians on how the state is preparing for Sandy.

Corbett is anticipating widespread power outages, heavy volumes of rain and damaging winds.

The governor said he requested a presidential declaration for a state of emergency to make federal funds available in the wake and aftermath of Sandy.

He also put 1,600 National Guard troops on standby.

The state is also urging you to stay informed by logging onto www.readypa.org.
