Gubernatorial Candidates Campaign In The Alleghenies

Election day is less than two weeks away and candidates are making their final push to voters hoping they will cast their names on Nov. 2.

Both gubernatorial candidates made stops in the Alleghenies on Thursday.

Democrat Dan Onorato made a campaign stop in Johnstown at the revitalized Rosedale brownfield site. He said projects like the Rosedale brownfield site are part of his plan to create jobs across the state. He wants to clean up old industrial sites to attract private development in hopes that it will open up jobs.

Republican Tom Corbett made stops in Altoona and Berlin. He told WJAC in an interview that those stops were two of eight that day. The stops are part of his aggressive campaign across the state until Election Day.

Corbett is considered to be the front runner in the race but polls show it is tightening. A recent poll by Muhlenburg College and the Allentown Morning Call shows 47 percent of the people polled would vote for Corbett and 40 percent would vote for Onorato. Corbett has the lead by 7 points but at one point polls showed he had a double digit lead.
