Gunman Located By Police After Church Shooting

CLEARFIELD, Pa. —

After an eight-hour search of the Moshannon State Forest, Norm Kaufmann was located by police.

According to police, Kaufmann shot Jim Dixon around 6:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Clearfield.

Dixon is a maintenance worker at that church.

Police said Kaufmann left the scene of the shooting and drove into Moshannon State Forest.

Police located his vehicle late Thursday morning on Harley Race Road.

Kaufmann was found a few hours later, just two miles away, on Four Mile Road.

He was flown to Altoona Hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Norm Kaufmann faces several charges including criminal attempted homicide.

Jim Dixon was taken to a local hospital after the shooting with serious injuries.

Police would not comment on any motive in this case.
