Hazmat Crews Arrive At Scene Of Tractor-Trailer Crash

A tractor-trailer crash closed a section of Interstate 99 Wednesday morning and caused diesel fuel to spill into a nearby creek.

Exit 22 east heading toward Duncansville was expected to be closed for most of the day.

Officials said a truck carrying 7,600 gallons of diesel fuel slid off the road as it was coming off the exit. Some of that fuel spilled on the ground and into the stream.

Crews were using a back hoe to dig trenches and other equipment to absorb the fuel.

The driver of the the tanker truck was taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. No one else was injured.
