Health Care Worker Shot After Argument

By Rich Wisniewski

DECATUR TOWNSHIP, Pa —

On a dark back road in Clearfield County, neighbors who spend their day just going about their own business were stunned to find their quiet community was the scene of a crime.

"It's sad actually because we have a nice little quiet community here and to know that one of our local people is in trouble; it's sad," said one Decatur resident.

Other neighbors were just as stunned to find that the woman who lives alone in her home on the 2600 block of Morgan Run Road was taken away in a police car after she became the suspect in an alleged shooting.

"She's someone that people knew," said the neigbor.

Police say that woman shot a 26 year old health care worker in the side of the head Thursday afternoon. Police aren't releasing a motive, or names but they say the victim was the employee of a home care provider and she was making a routine visit to the house. According to police, something happened in the house which escalated to an argument between the two women. That's when, police say the woman pulled out a 22 caliber gun and shot the 26 year old.

Police tell six news that after being shot, the health care worker was somehow able to hop in her car and drive a short distance down the road before pulling off and calling for help. Police say they were stunned to find, that even though the victim was shot in the head, she was coherent and is expected to be ok.

As for the suspect, she surrendered when police arrived on her property. But Decatur Police say when they searched the home, they found the gun that was allegedly used and lots of blood.

Thursday night, police are still trying to find out what charges are going to be filed.
