Heat Wave Grips Region

As people across the region try to beat the heat, high humidity is compounding the problem.

Just before 11 a.m., outdoor thermometers in DuBois hovered between 78 and 82 degrees. But many workers and young people were already busy, including those at a summer baseball camp.

Organizers there said they've dealt with high heat before, so they know to take precautions to keep young players safe.

Dan Baronick said participants at the camp take frequent 5 to 10 minute breaks.

"We also stress for them to ... keep up with the fluids and drinking water," he said.
