Highway Projects Cut

Related

Your tax dollars are being spent, but on what? When it comes to road construction unfortunately millions have already been spent on studies of two high profile area projects that have been axed because of funding shortages. In Cambria County the proposed Route 56 bypass has cost 2.9 million dollars in studies. Meanwhile 1.3 million dollars has been spent on studies for an expansion of route 219 into Clearfield County. Across the state twenty six road projects have been killed, six of them are in our area. They include the Route 56 bypass in Johnstown, the 2-19 four lane expansion to Clearfield County. In Blair County, the "goods lane" bridge improvement, and work on the widening of state route 4-53 has stopped. In Centre County, work has stopped on the route 322/144 connector. Indiana county is losing a project to widen Route 4-22, and in Bedford County, they are re-evaluating the Route 56 Pleasantville Mountain Bypass.
