How To File A Complaint Against a Personal Care Home

For many people it is a hard decision placing their loved ones in a nursing home or personal care home. When they find out about alleged abuse it hurts even more but there are some signs people can look out for.

The Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect Resource Center, an advocate for prevention of nursing home neglect said it is key to look for signs of abuse. Also look for changes in emotional behavior of the residents in the home.

If people suspect abuse or have a complaint against a personal care home they should contact the Department of Welfare, the local agency on aging or the local law enforcement. The home care facility has seven days to make a final decision on how to resolve the complaint.
