Huff In Court For Extradition Hearing

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Police call him a career criminal. Now Peter Huff is back in court for an extradition hearing.

Huff is charged with an array of charges in Johnstown, including fleeing and traffic violations. Huff led police on a high-speed chase through Johnstown and then crashed his car, sending him to the hospital last week.

After getting out of the hospital, Huff was immediately transported to jail.

On Wednesday, his case was continued until Huff decides whether he wants to waive his extradition.

Cambria County Assistant District Attorney Gary Costlow said, "We decided to wait to make a determination. If there's going to be an extradition to North Carolina. In which case, we would probably allow that procedure to go first."

Officials said if Huff waits too long to decide,North Carolina authorities can try to prove he's a suspect in their case and he'd be extradited anyway.

Huff is wanted in North Carolina on suspicion of attacking his elderly relatives with a sledgehammer in July.
