By Maria Miller

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. —

The search for a missing Somerset County woman has turned into a murder case.

Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that human remains found along the Great Allegheny Passage in Larimer Township are those of Justine Jackson,19. No one had heard from her since Sept. 14.

Police said the last person to see her was her boyfriend, Jonathan Beal.

Investigators are now focused on tracking him down. In the meantime, police did release a lot of new information in the case Tuesday.

Police said Jackson had been missing for six weeks before they were even notified. On Tuesday police put aside all the rumors spread throughout the small town of Meyersdale the past couple of weeks. Police said it's been an active investigation on their part from day one.

On October 25, a friend of Jackson's notified police to report her missing, saying she hadn't heard from her in weeks.

"This girl was last seen Sept. 14, 2012, " said Somerset County district attorney Lisa Lazzari-Strasisier. "We had no information that she was even missing for six weeks."

Police immediately began an investigation and talked with several people around the town, including the last person to have seen her was Beal.

"We conducted several different searches and interviewed several people in the Meyersdale area," said state police Trooper Stephen Limani. "We understand there was a lot of different information given out, alot of it misinformation. We continued to follow leads."

Fast forward to Nov. 11, police said a hiker walking along a trail just outside of Meyersdale discovered human remains.

"Through dental records we were able to determine that this was our missing person, Justine Jackson," said Limani.

Police said she was in a shallow grave in an area underneath the viaduct. The cause of death was strangulation. On Tuesday Beal was charged with her murder.

"Individuals we interviewed in Meyersdale and from the physical of evidence we were able to gather and from a lot of misinformation that was given by Mr. Jonathan Beal, charges of criminal homicide were filed today," said Limani. .

But police said they don't know where Beal is.They're asking for help.

"We have someone that's accused of killing someone and he's not in custody right now," said Limani. "It's very important and I would consider this person dangerous."

A warrant is out for Beals' arrest. Any information on his whereabouts should immediately be directed to state police in Somerset County.
