Inmate Charged With Running Check-Cashing Scheme

A prison inmate has been charged with running a bogus check cashing scam from behind bars.

Wednesday's Tribune Democrat reported that 31-year-old Chad Dickson pleaded guilty to the scheme, which is believed to have netted about $30,000.

Authorities said Dickson used a typewriter at the prison to make the phony checks.

Police discovered the scheme during an investigation into drug activity at the prison. Four others have also been charged.
