JARI Addresses Future of Defense Industry

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

Johnstown Area Regional Industries is working to dispell concerns that the possibility of KDH Defense Systems closing is indicative of what's to come for the defense industry.

WJAC spoke with JARI President Linda Thomson, who said, after a recent meeting with 15 defense companies, that the future is promising for the industry.

Thomson said, thanks to a solid foundation laid by the late Congressman John Murtha, these companies are strong, competitive, and independant.

"Most of our companies are not dependant on directed funding or funding that was originiated by Mr. Murtha. Not today," said Thomson.

Thomson said if KDH does close they will be ready to help employees find new employment.

KDH executives have not responded to WJAC's attempts to contact them for confirmation about the closure.
