Job Announcements Made At Showcase For Commerce

The Johnstown Showcase For Commerce opened to the public for the final day of the event. Friday morning several companies were awarded new contracts for defense work that total more than a million dollars.

Rep. John Murtha, D 12th District, made several contract announcements Friday morning. Aerofab in Nicktown secured a $5 million contract with the Boeing Company.

Kuchera Defense Systems in Windber was awarded $26.7 million in Raytheon contracts, which will lead to eight new jobs and guarantee 18 to 20 already existing jobs for the next decade.

MTS Technologies announced $27.6 million in contract awards, which will add an additional 30 employees to its Johnstown operations.

The largest contract awarded was for Concurrent Technologies Corporation, or CTC. The company won a $45 million dollar contract with the Army.

CTC's president said it was Rep. Murtha who encouraged them to bid on projects to help boost the local economy.
