Job Saving Meeting

JOHNSTOWN —

The township had decided to cut several jobs, including police and road workers due to budget woes. Today, those workers were laid off.

Residents wanted answers and wanted service workers to get their jobs back. And some did.

During executive session, officials agreed to bring back a full time officer who had been cut. The part time officers will be on call workers, but the road workers didn't get their jobs back...yet.

We're going to try everything. I mean these guys work for Upper Yoder for a reason. They're fantastic employees we want to keep them working but we have to be able to pay them, says Upper Yoder Supervisor Joe Veranese.

I'm satisfied to a point, but Im not. What happens next meeting when they do it again and they say ops, we've got to lay off again and were back with 50 to 100 people here, says local resident Dave Gehlman.

Many residents were upset they couldn't speak up tonight. Supervisors claim it was because the meeting was a special session. Residents booed the officials when they were leaving.
