Jobless Rate Rises In Cambria, Somerset Counties

New unemployment numbers released Tuesday from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry reflect growing problems with the economy.

The jobless rate for August in both Cambria and Somerset counties stood at 7 percent, up 7/10 of a percent from July and the highest rate in nearly four years.

Among Pennsylvania's 67 counties, the rate ranks tied for 52nd.

Clearfield County came in higher a 7.5 percent and Bedford was at 7.9 percent.

Centre County had the fifth-lowest rate in the state at 4.7 percent.
