Johnsonburg man displaced by chimney fire

By Melanie Gillespie

ELK COUNTY, Pa. —

Fire crews in Elk County spent several hours Sunday afternoon trying to put out a house fire.

Dispatch said several departments were called out to the 200 block of Blaine Avenue in Johnsonburg.

The blaze quickly turned into a second alarm and destroyed the home.

A man, 62, was displaced by that fire, but was not home at the time it sparked.

The fire marshal ruled it accidental and believes it started in the chimney.

Damage is estimated at $250,000.
