Johnstown Business Park To Expand

A 92-acre expansion project at the Johnstown Business Park could mean up to 600 new jobs, officials said.

Officials broke ground for the expansion in Richland on Tuesday.

Linda Thompson, president of the Johnstown Area Regional Industries, said the infrastructure -- including the road, water lines and sewage system -- is slated to begin this week.

The land will be divided and sold in nine parcels to technology businesses, offices, manufacturing plants and distribution facilities.

Thompson said the park has piqued interest, but said, "We don't have any signing of the dotted line yet."

"We've felt that until the infrastructure was really under way, we wouldn't start marketing it, but now we're definitely out there marketing the expansion area and we do hope to have some businesses move in within the next year," she said.

Thompson said the expansion is expected to be complete by October.
