Johnstown Celebrates Bridge Lighting

Johnstown got a little brighter Saturday night with the dedication of lighting at the historic Stone Bridge.

The effort to light the bridge goes back several years. The bridge itself was built a couple years before the historic Johnstown flood of 1889.

Hundreds of people came together with officials to dedicate the lights in honor of the late Congressman John Murtha, who was part of the original plan to light the bridge three years ago.

A group of 400 donors paid for the project. It also includes some major improvements to the stone bridge itself.

The lights can change colors to reflect seasons, holidays and special events.
