Johnstown Chiefs Future In Johnstown In Jeopardy

The future of hockey in Johnstown maybe on thin ice. Cambria County Commissioners ended contract talks with Roustan United on plans to privatize operations at the War Memorial. The county is considering other proposals.

Cambria County Commissioners said they know there needs to be a change at the War Memorial they just won't do it at the expense of the tax payers.

Last year a study was released on how to make the War Memorial more profitable. It revealed that the county was mismanaging operations and should look to privatize the arena.

Roustan United, which currently manages the Chiefs, partnered with Global Spectrum to put together a proposal but those negotiations have hit a wall. Roustan United wants to run all operations inside the War Memorial but the county is not satisfied with the current proposal. They said it does not protect the interest of the taxpayers.

The county is looking at other options including a proposal with Global Spectrum.
