Johnstown Church Clean-Up Could Take Weeks

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

It could take weeks to repair damage, by vandals, to a Johnstown church.

The interior of Trinity United Methodist Church is still covered with white powder.

According to police, someone set off the church's fire extinguishers earlier this week.

The congregation came together Sunday at their sister church, Trinity Asbury.

Church officials said the clean-up could get very expensive.

"We're looking into bids right now," said Bob Katzenstein. "It will be in the neighborhood of $15,000 to $20,000."

According to Johnstown police, they're getting closer to catching the people responsible for the damage.

"I was really amazed at the work of the detectives," said Katzenstein. "They came up with a lot of evidence in a short period of time."

Until the damage is repaired, the Trinity U.M.C. congregation will continue to worship at Trinity Asbury.
