Johnstown Churches Auction Memorabilia

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The Altoona-Johnstown Catholic Diocese had to consolidate five churches last year, now they're auctioning off items from the rectories.

An auction was set for Saturday at a couple churches, including Immaculate Conception church in the West End section of Johnstown.

The church sold everything from furniture to kitchen items, but it wasn't just about the antiques. Most people in the crowd grew up attending mass in these churches and they just want something to remember it.

WJAC-TV found out about another big sale. The Fitzpatrick family bought the Immaculate Conception rectory and plan to turn it into a tea room and bakery. The Fitzpatrick's hope they'll be able to keep the historic look alive.
