Johnstown City Council Approves 2011 Budget With Commuter Tax

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

The Johnstown City Council held a budget meeting on Thursday to approve its 2011 budget.

Council members said they worked hard to not include an earned income tax raise or layoffs. They did include a commuter tax, but it's not a done deal. In January, a judge will have to decide on the tax.

Council members said if its not approved it could leave a giant hole in the budget.

The reason the council didn't want to increase taxes this year was mainly because of the shape of the economy and the sewage rate increases.
