Johnstown City Council Approves Tax Hike

Cambria County —

In a five to three vote, Johnstown City Council members approved a 3 mil tax hike for property owners.

Currently, the city faces a $370,000 budget shortfall for 2007. Council members say they hope raising taxes will prevent them from having to lay-off any city workers.

Council members also say they may use money from a savings account to help balance the budget.
