Johnstown City Council Looks To Condemn House

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

Many Johnstown residents have heard of Chandra Vora and about the garbage she collects and takes home. Last week City Manager Curt Davis said the city is considering a project to hide her mess, but Vora's neighbors said that's not good enough.

Mary Frances Rager showed pictures to council of Vora's property and said she has spoke to code officials many times about it.

For the last eight years, Vora has been adding to her collection and was even taken to jail twice over the mess.

Rager said she was shocked to see on the news that the city was starting to lose hope and planning to hide the property. She made her case to council and several members agreed that covering up the problem isn't an option.

"Some people say I'm just too fussy," said Rager. "I just want a nice neighborhood."

Council was sympathetic to Rager's pleas. Even though they said code officers are on top of the situation, council decided to make a motion to look into the mess on Vora's property. They want to see how soon it can be condemned, if at all.
