Johnstown City Officials Propose Ordinance To Avoid Blight

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

On Wednesday, Johnstown city officials proposed a new ordinance that will require property owners to register their properties with the city.

The registration is designed to keep track of who owns which city properties and inspections that will monitor all electric, gas and water appliances to avoid blight. However, property inspections will only be conducted when requested.

Altoona city officials proposed a similar ordinance that requires property owners to register properties vacant for 45 days.

The new ordinances in Johnstown and Altoona have not been passed, but officials plan to vote on them in April.
