Spring is generally a time for cleaning up and that's exactly what Johnstown officials hope to accomplish with a free trash and debris pickup program in the downtown area. This is the second year for the program. Two days each week city public works employees will travel around the downtown area cleaning up outdoor messes like trash on sidewalks and weeds in empty lots then they'll haul it away for free. The cleanup started Tuesday with a dozen city streets and continued this morning with pickup on nine more streets.
