Johnstown Councilman Withdraws Resignation

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

A longtime Johnstown council member who announced his resignation and walked out of a council meeting now says he's had a change of heart and wants to stay on the council.

According to a letter sent to Council and City Hall, Jack Williams said he has reconsidered stepping down.

Williams said it is important that he remain on council to ensure fiscal stability in Johnstown and said he does not want to undo all the good that has already been done.

Two weeks ago, Williams picked up his name plate and walked out of a council meeting, declaring his resignation. He later postponed his resignation until May 13. Now, said he wants to stay the course on council.

Council was scheduled to vote on Williams' resignation and vote on the number of council members at tonight's meeting.
