Johnstown Detour Shortcuts

Related

Starting this Monday - the Cambria County Route 56 Bypass detour project begins - meaning a big change in traffic patterns for Richland Township.

Here's a look at the PENNDOT detour - which takes traffic in a big loop. If you're heading to Route 219 South from Johnstown you'll get off at the Scalp Avenue Exit. If you're heading back into the city off of Route 219 you'll take a different route.

And - for many - the PENNDOT detour may seem confusing - but knowing the right roads could help you avoid the detour all together - and the headaches.

Here are some shortcuts you can take to avoid the highway headaches.

If you're coming from Johnstown - take the Route 56 Bypass and get off the Walters Avenue, Airport Exit. Once you hit the first traffic light take a right - followed by another two rights. This will put you on Solomon Run Road - which will lead you to Route 219 near the galleria.

Another route from Johnstown - take Frankstown Road out of the city. Once you see the signs for the Airport - bare right. This will put you onto Airport Road. You'll pass the Johnstown Airport and end up at an intersection near Route 219.
