Johnstown Man Convicted of 1st-Degree Murder

A jury found Shawn Dugan, 38, of Johnstown, guilty of first-degree murder among other charges Tuesday.

Dugan now faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Dugan's charges are in connection with the shooting death last year of Marcus Chromy.

The shooting happened during a camping trip in a remote area near Blue Knob.

During the trial, Dugan's former girlfriend, Donna Hawk, testified that both men were drunk during the trip and Chromy repeatedly made lewd comments to her. Hawk said the situation escalated and Dugan shot Chromy.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7.
