Johnstown Native Killed In Iraq

Johnstown mourns the loss of a great soldier, father, and son. A 26-year-old Johnstown native was one of nine U-S soldiers killed when a medical helicopter crashed in Iraq. Army Specialist Christopher Golby was assigned to the 571st Medical Company in Fort Carson, Colorado. His parents, Ron and Dawn Golby, say their son was on a mission when the chopper went down. He had been serving in Iraq for almost a year and was due to return home in March. Army Specialist Golby joined the service one year after graduating from the Richland Township High School in 1995. Before his tour in Iraq, he completed missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Africa ...visiting 37 countries in all. His family says he died doing what he loved. Chris Golby is survived by his wife and two sons. In the mean time; the government has sealed off the crash site and an investigation is underway. Military officials say the crash happened Thursday... near the city of Fallujah. Witnesses insist the Blackhawk was hit by a rocket. One man says he heard a loud explosion and saw fire in the air.
