JOHNSTOWN, Pa —

The signs up at the intersection of Napoleon and Haynes streets in Johnstown have announced the arrival of a new sculpture park.  They've been there for several years announcing the future site of the Haynes Sculpture Park.

The statue is currently being stored with Concurrent Technologies in Richland.  It's only a couple of stainless steel pipes now, but when it's all assembled and polished it will be titled “The Celebration of Life.”

It was designed by the late John Stallings who died in April. His wife, Cindy said when finished, the sculpture will serve as a gateway into the city.

"The city has about 16,000 to 20,000 vehicles that pass through that intersection daily. So it's really one of the first places and impressions that visitors and local residents see of the city,” Stallings said.

She said they have received several grants to complete the sculpture but are still in need of more funding to help build the base and install it.

As far as a completion date, those involved say they hope to see it completed by the end of 2012.
