JOHNSTOWN —
According to officials there's no hold-up because most of the land where they plan to begin construction first is empty.
But there's more demolition work that needs to be done at the site. Three buildings still stand on the property of the soon-to-be built tech park: a printing company, an old apartment building and a church.
Ron Repak from the Redevelopment Authority said, “Today another step was taken...we opened bids for the demolition on two additional structures at the location...this include an apartment building and a printer which will be relocating to the downtown.”
As for St. John's Lutheran Church, the Redevelopment Authority is trying to work something out.
Repak said, “No final decision has been made yet on the church it potentially could be incorporated but that has not been determined yet.”
The Conemaugh Engraving Company and a former apartment building will be demolished sometime in October and before you know it-the lot will be transformed.
Officials say the Greater Johnstown Regional Technology Park should be up and running by 2008.
