Judge hears motions in McQueary's defamation/whistle-blower lawsuit against Penn State

By WJAC Web Staff

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. —

A hearing was held in Centre County on Monday to determine if Mike McQueary's lawsuit against Penn State University will be dismissed.

The proceeding involves the school's objections to former assistant football coach McQueary's whistle-blower and defamation claims.

McQueary claims some university officials tried to wrongly blame him for their alleged failure to act after McQueary reported seeing former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky molest a boy in a campus football shower room.

McQueary is seeking millions of dollars in damages for how he said he was treated after he reported seeing Sandusky showering with a boy in 2001.

Penn State wants the judge to dismiss the suit, saying it's without merit.

McQueary was not in court as both sides presented their case on Monday.

A judge is expected to make his ruling in April.
