ALTOONA, Pa. —

A Blair County judge has denied a request to dismiss charges against a pair of former police officers charged in a barroom brawl.

Former Altoona police officers Duane Eichenlaub and Eric Kriner are charged in a May 2010 bar fight that left two other men injured. Prosecutors said the suspects also tried to thwart the investigation into the fight using their connections to the police department.

The Altoona Mirror reports a Blair County judge denied the dismissal request Tuesday and scheduled another court appearance for both men on Sept. 17.

Victim Herman "Bo" Lardieri III was convicted in July of lying to a grand jury about that night, saying he hadn't interacted with Eichenlaub's wife, whose skirt he allegedly lifted. A jury was hung on indecent assault charges.
