Landfill Company Appeals DEP Decision

BOGGS TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

It has been nearly a year since the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection denied PA Waste, LCC's request for a landfill in Boggs Township, Clearfield County.

DEP officials said the company had not shown where the waste brought into the site would come from.

According to county officials, that company is now planning an appeal.

In 2008, township residents banded together to stop the project.

"We knew in our hearts that it wasn't over when the permit was rejected," said Paula Norris.

Norris is a member of Concerned Citizens Fighting the Boggs Township Landfill.

She said the group is planning a meeting to discuss PA Waste's appeal.

The appeal is in the discovery phase and the Clearfield County commissioners have been asked for depositions.

WJAC-TV tried to reach PA Waste for comment on this story but was not able to contact them.
