Landfill Possibly Coming To Centre County

Channel Six News has confirmed there's talk of a proposed landfill that could be a big moneymaker for the municipalities involved.

The Department of Environmental Resources has been contacted about locating a new landfill west of the towns of Snow Shoe and Moshannon. One of the backers of the project is the corporate group - Resource Recycling L.L.C. They're looking at a 6 thousand acre tract of land, at least 750 acres being used for a landfill. With the property located in both Rush and Snow Shoe Townships, the proposed landfill operators are estimating up to 700 thousand dollars a year in revenue for each township. They're also proposing constructing a separate exit off of nearby Interstate 80 for a landfill access route.
